Terms of Service

Last updated: July 25, 2026

The short version

Use shElf to track your kitchen and cook good food. Don't abuse it, don't try to break it, don't use it to do anything illegal. We can change the service or remove your access if you violate these terms. You own your data.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. You must be at least 13 years old to use shElf. You can close your account anytime.

What you can do

  • Use shElf for personal kitchen management.
  • Share recipes you've created via the app's sharing features.
  • Export your data anytime.
  • Cancel anytime.

What you can't do

  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or otherwise abuse the service.
  • Use the service for illegal purposes.
  • Resell access to the service.
  • Submit content that violates someone else's rights (copyrighted recipes wholesale, etc.).

Your content, your rights

Anything you put into shElf — your kitchen inventory, recipes you've created, meal plans — belongs to you. We need a limited license to store and process it so the app works. That's it. You can take everything with you when you leave.

Pricing

shElf is free at launch. A Pro tier may be introduced later with optional premium features. Existing accounts will be notified well in advance of any pricing changes, and the free tier will remain available with substantial functionality.

Changes to the service

We may update, change, or remove features as the product evolves. We'll do our best to tell you in advance for anything significant.

Termination

You can stop using shElf and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice except in cases of obvious abuse.

Food data and allergies

Product information in shElf — names, ingredients, allergen labels, nutrition values — comes from public databases such as Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central, from other people who contribute products to our catalog, and in some cases from automated recognition of photos and receipts. Recipes come from public sources and from AI generation. None of it is verified by us product by product, and any of it can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong.

Our diet and allergen filters work on that data, so they can only be as accurate as the data is. Always read the actual packaging before you eat something. If you have a food allergy, treat shElf as a convenience, never as a safety check.

No warranty

shElf is provided "as is." We try hard to make it reliable, but we can't guarantee it will be available 100% of the time, free of bugs, or fit every possible use case. Recipe suggestions are not medical or dietary advice.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past twelve months (which is currently zero — the app is free). We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

Disputes

Any disputes will be resolved under the laws of the jurisdiction where shElf is operated. We always prefer to sort things out directly first — reach us via the contact page.
